MP slams Armenia's ruing team for ignoring key issues
Independent MP Taguhi Tovmasyan has accused the Armenian authorities of ignoring the most important issues, including grave security challenges, facing Armenia and Artsakh.
Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, she called out Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Civil Contract party for organizing concerts in Yerevan in the run-up to the municipal elections and deplored the parliament debates on secondary issues, including amendments to the Tax Code, amid the Azerbaijani military buildup along the border with Armenia.
“Amid the life-and-death struggle and deteriorating humanitarian conditions in Artsakh, the ruling team organizes concerts, as you know, [its mayoral candidate] Tigran Avinyan cheerfully attended a concert in Yerevan's Kanaker-Zeytun administrative district," Tovmasyan noted.
The deputy accused the Civil Contract party of abuse of administrative resources to boost its chances of winning the September 17 elections, a practice strongly condemned by Pashinyan when he was an opposition MP.
She emphasized that at the moment all government officials in Armenia were engaged in electoral processes and campaigning.
"The Vardenis hospital is experiencing a physician shortage, the wards are in a poor condition, while the health minister and her deputies attend election campaign rallies,” the MP stressed.
