Political analyst warns of new 'full-scale' war in South Caucasus
The South Caucasus region is “on the brink of a new large-scale war”, political analyst Hrant Melik-Shahnazaryan warned on Friday.
“The U.S. State Department made it clear yesterday that the South Caucasus had become a platform for them to fight against Russia, Iran and China. In the other camp are Turkey, the West and, most likely, Israel,” he wrote on Facebook.
“The region is teetering on the brink of a new full-scale war. In such a situation, two questions remain open: a) in which camp will Armenia find itself? b) will Russia be involved in this war?" the analyst said.
"The part of the query regarding Armenia is, of course, from the realm of absurdity. It seems pretty clear where our country should be. However, the pro-Turkish authorities are leading us in the other direction and if we do not take urgent action to oust these traitors and do not join the Russia-Iran-China camp, the country will turn into a battlefield of this war."
The analyst cited ex-Ambassador Mikayel Minasyan’s recent warnings of an impending war.
“Armenia [not its traitorous leaders) must make a choice,” he added.
