Pashinyan says no deal will be signed with Azerbaijan in October
Armenia and Azerbaijan do not plan to sign any document during the meeting on the sidelines of the European Political Community Summit in Granada on October 5, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Sunday.
“Unfortunately, not,” Pashinyan told reporters when asked whether or not any document is going to be signed at the summit.
Meanwhile, he said Armenia and Azerbaijan could sign a peace deal by the year-end, adding that Yerevan “is taking all necessary steps” for it.
"The severe humanitarian crisis in Nagorno-Karabakh and the illegal blockade of the Lachin corridor negatively impact the peace process,” the premier said. “We spend much time on settling the issue. This energy and time could have been spent on addressing the peace deal."
"I always consider it possible to sign a peace deal by the end of the year as I have assumed commitment for it. Yes, we believe the signing is possible by the year-end," he added.
