Voting underway in Yerevan municipal elections
Voters in Yerevan on Sunday headed to the polls to elect a new municipal council that will in turn elect the next mayor of the Armenian capital.
475 polling stations in Yerevan opened at 8am. The polls are scheduled to close at 8pm.
A total of 824,250 citizens are eligible to vote in the elections, according to data released by the Central Electoral Commission (CEC).
Thirteen parties and one bloc are vying for 65 seats in the City Council. They include the Public Voice, Civil Contract, Fair Armenia, Victory, Uzh Hayrenyats (Strength of the Homeland) parties, European Party of Armenia, National Progress Party, Social Justice Party, Republic Party, United Armenia Party, Bright Armenia Party, Democratic Consolidation Party, Country of Living party and Mother Armenia alliance.
