Police forcefully detain anti-Pashinyan protester in Yerevan
Police officers in Yerevan used force to detain a man protesting against Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan outside the government headquarters on Tuesday.
The man, named Garnik Davtyan, blamed Pashinyan’s policies for thousands of Armenian casualties in the 2020 Artsakh war and warned of an impending war in Armenia.
He placed a red stool in Yerevan’s Republic Square close to the government building with a poster reading, “Civil Contract + flattery = genocide".
The protester urged people to stand up against the demands of the Turkish-Azerbaijani tandem and insisted on the ouster of Pashinyan and his government for failure to promote Armenia’s interests.
On-duty police officers told him that his protest was unauthorized and forcefully took him to the Kentron police headquarters.
