Azerbaijan violates new ceasefire in Artsakh
The Azerbaijani military has violated the new Russian-brokered ceasefire in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) which took effect at 1 p.m. local time on Wednesday, 24 hours after Baku launched a large-scale military offensive.
In a statement on Thursday, Artsakh’s Interior Ministry said that the Azerbaijani armed forces were firing from small arms from the nearby areas of Stepanakert. The gunshots could be heard in city center.
The authorities urged the residents of Stepanakert to remain in bomb shelters.
Earlier on Thursday, an Artsakh delegation escorted by Russian peacekeepers arrived in the town of Yevlakh for talks with Azerbaijan.
The Artsakh ombudsman’s office said at least 200 people, including 10 civilians, were killed and more than 400 injured in Azerbaijani attacks.
