Protester announces mass hunger strike in Yerevan
Suren Petrosyan, the leader of Armenia's Democratic Consolidation Party, on Thursday announced a mass hunger strike near the Garegin Nzhdeh statue in Yerevan.
Addressing a rally near the parliament building which was sparked by Artsakh’s surrender to Azerbaijan, Petrosyan called for national consolidation and struggle.
He urged Armenia’s religious leader, all clergymen and intellectuals to join the hunger strike.
“We have reached a crucial stage and from now on there is no turning back. One option is to embrace the defeat and surrender, the other is to fight. We have been constantly terrorized that if we take action, we will be facing war. This is a lie, there are far worse things than war, it is being slaughtered without resistance, and what is more precious than life is honor and dignity. They have even replaced our faith with fear. We fear the present, the future and, worst of all, we fear the past victories," he emphasized.
