Anti-Pashinyan protesters block central Yerevan street
Protesters demanding Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s resignation on Friday blocked the intersection from Amiryan Street to Republic Square in central Yerevan as part of mass civil disobedience.
They rejected the demands of police officers to unblock the street and instead urged them to lift the Azerbaijani blockade of the Lachin corridor.
"We will open the streets when you open the Hakari bridge [on the Lachin corridor]," they said.
Large police forces were deployed to the area and police officers started arresting the protesters using force.
The opposition announced nonstop street protests in Yerevan in a bid to oust Pashinyan starting Friday.
