Azerbaijan shares photo of arrested Ruben Vardanyan
The State Border Service of Azerbaijan has shared a photo confirming the arrest of Ruben Vardanyan, a Russian-Armenian businessman and philanthropist who briefly served as Artsakh’s state minister.
"Accompanied by officers of the State Border Service, he has been taken to Baku and handed over to the competent authorities for a further decision regarding the detainee,” it said in a statement.
Vardanyan was arrested and held captive by Azerbaijani authorities as he attempted to leave Nagorno-Karabakh for Armenia on Wednesday morning, his spouse Veronika Zonabend said.
