Hayakve calls for immediate measures to repatriate Ruben Vardanyan
The Hayakve ballot initiative has denounced the arrest of Artsakh’s former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan by Azerbaijan and called on Armenia’s leadership to take urgent measures to repatriate him.
Vardanyan was arrested by Azerbaijan's border guard service as he attempted to leave Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) for Armenia alongside tens of thousands of civilians on Wednesday morning.
"A short while ago, Azerbaijani forces arrested and took captive Artsakh’s former State Minister Ruben Vardanyan, a supporter of Hayakve,” the group said in a statement.
“We strongly condemn this illegal move by the enemy and demand that the Armenian authorities take immediate measures to repatriate Ruben Vardanyan to Armenia,” Hayakve added.
