Azerbaijan destroys monument to Artsakh Liberation War in Hadrut
Azerbaijani forces have destroyed a monument commemorating the Artsakh Liberation War in Ukhtadzor, a village in the Hadrut region of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh), the Artsakh Monument Watch reported on Thursday.
“A video posted on Telegram on 7 September has provided clear evidence of the ongoing destruction of Armenian cultural heritage in the Azeri-occupied Hadrut region,” the watchdog said.
“The video clearly shows that the monument dedicated to the Artsakh Liberation War in the village of Ukhtadzor has been razed to the ground. Back in 2021, a khachkar, which was part of the same cultural complex, was destroyed as a result of Azerbaijani vandalism,” it noted.
The Monument Watch underscores the continued acts of vandalism confirm Azerbaijan’s clear-cut strategy to destroy cultural heritage in Artsakh.
