Armenian expert calls for joint drills with Iran, France and India
Armenian historian and political analyst Armen Ayvazyan calls for deep strategic ties with Iran, France and India amid fresh security threats facing the county after Azerbaijan's seizure of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
In a social media post on Monday, he urged the Armenian leadership to immediately sign a mutual defense assistance treaty with Iran, France and India and insisted on major Armenian-Iranian, Armenian-French and Armenian-Indian land and air exercises in Armenia.
Ayvazyan defended the nation-army model to boost the combat-readiness of reserve forces and the militia.
“The Armenian army needs to be replenished with high-quality (partially Armenian-made) weapons and ammunition,” the analyst wrote, stressing the need to sharply increase the defense capacity of Syunik Province and other border regions of Armenia.
“All that remains is to form a government that would fully deal with these vital issues. It is a matter of life and death,” he added.
