Ex-FM blames Pashinyan's ‘incompetence' for fall of Artsakh
Former Foreign Minister Vartan Oskanian blames Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's policy failures and “incompetence” for Azerbaijan’s seizure of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) which triggered a mass exodus of Armenians.
In a video posted on Facebook on Monday, the diplomat called out the Armenian leadership’s silence over Azerbaijan's terrorism charges against former and current Artsakh officials detained by Baku.
“In 30 years, have you ever heard anyone talking about terrorism in connection with Nagorno-Karabakh? Neither the international community nor even Azerbaijan has said such a thing. Are you saying that when the Minsk Group co-chairs held meetings with the Artsakh leaders in Armenia, they actually met with terrorists? Why is the Foreign Ministry remaining silent?” he said.
The ex-foreign minister underscored the Armenian history never saw “anything like this”. He claimed Pashinyan “ignored” both public and backroom advice from the diplomatic corps.
“We fell victim to one man's wrong policy, his incompetence and inaction. And today we are facing new challenges, a new decisive stage,” Oskanian said, warning that Pashinyan's negotiating agenda has "turned upside down".
