Germany calls for EU sanctions against Azerbaijan
German MP Anton Hofreiter, chairman of the Bundestag’s European Affairs Committee, has urged the EU to immediately impose sanctions on Azerbaijan following its violent seizure of Nagorno-Karabakh.
The Green politician told Table.Media that the contracts with Azerbaijan on gas supplies “must be reviewed immediately”.
He said the EU should avoid the mistakes made in relations with Russia regarding energy dependence. The politician called for gas supplies from Azerbaijan to the EU to be partially replaced by previous supplies from Russia.
