Azerbaijan reportedly arrests Artsakh NSS chief
Azerbaijan has arrested Major-General Ararat Melkumyan, Director of the Artsakh National Security Service (NSS), MediaHub said on Tuesday.
Melkumyan was reportedly arrested by Azeri border guards as he attempted to leave Artsakh for Armenia through the Lachin corridor.
He took office as Artsakh's NSS head on January 16, 2023.
Azerbaijan took captive and charged Artsakh’s former State Minster Ruben Vardanyan, former Artsakh army commander Levon Mnatsakanyan and deputy commander Davit Manukyan on their way to Armenia last week. Artsakh presidential advisor David Babayan handed himself over to the Azerbaijani law enforcement authorities.
