A verbal altercation erupted between Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan and MP Anna Mkrtchyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction following her speech at a parliament session on Tuesday.

Reacting to her statements, the speaker said: “The person was sharing her own experience."

Anna Mkrtchyan reacted to the remark from her seat, saying, "You dumbass, shut up!"

Alen Simonyan: "You Chinese [meaning fake]... calm down!"

Anna Mkrtchyan: "It's you who has to calm down and behave calmly."

Alen Simonyan: "Are you done? Calm down, girl. You're just ill-mannered. Shut up!"

Anna Mkrtchyan: "You shut up!"

Alen Simonyan: "They bring whoever they want here."

Taking the parliament floor, the opposition deputy blasted her pro-government colleagues for “careless” behavior and laughter and blamed the ruling party for Artsakh’s surrender to Azerbaijan which triggered a mass exodus of its ethnic Armenian population, as well as the arrests of current and former Artsakh officials by Baku.

The lawmaker also accused the authorities of abandoning many Armenians held captive in Azerbaijan.

"Are you so satisfied because no one հas been able to stop your conspiracy acts? You are doing what they have ordered you to do. You keep your grip on power despite all havoc you have wrecked on the country. Are you vampires? How can you live so carefree after so much pain and bloodshed? Mkrtchyan said.
