Police detain protester outside UN Office in Yerevan
Tensions rose during a protest demanding punishment for Azerbaijan's genocidal Aliyev regime outside the United Nations Office in central Yerevan on Wednesday.
One of the protesters lit a fire of dry firewood in front of the UN Office, which sparked his forced detention by police officers.
The protest was organized by the Opening initiative to demand that Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev be held accountable for committing genocide in Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
"This protest is a call for the UN and its member countries to take practical steps to hold Azerbaijan accountable," the initiative members said.
