Freight train derails in Armenia
A freight train derailed on the Dalarik-Karakert roadway in Armenia’s Armavir Province on Thursday, shortly after midnight, the South Caucasus Railway reports.
The train of 36 cars was partially loaded with raw materials for cement production. No casualties were reported.
In addition to the train, the railroad track was also damaged. A recovery operation is underway and is expected to be completed within two days.
The Yerevan-Gyumri-Yerevan rail route, as well as the Yerevan-Tbilisi-Yerevan international route have been suspended in the wake of the accident.
