Armenian FM, EU envoy discuss situation after ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh
Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan on Thursday met with Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the Crisis in Georgia.
During the meeting, issues on the normalization process between Armenia and Azerbaijan were discussed, the Armenian Foreign Ministry reported.
"Ararat Mirzoyan emphasised the need to refrain from any provocation, use of force and threat of force against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Armenia, as well as the need to continue the negotiation process in line with the key messages of the Statement adopted following the quadrilateral meeting held in Granada on October 5," the ministry said in its readout of the meeting.
"The interlocutors touched upon the forced displacement of more than 100,000 people of Nagorno-Karabakh, the situation resulting from the factual ethnic cleansing of Nagorno-Karabakh, the need to address the rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and existing humanitarian issues," reads the statement.
