Tigran Avinyan sworn in as Yerevan mayor
Tigran Avinyan was officially sworn in as Mayor of Yerevan at a special meeting of the Armenian capital's municipal council on Friday.
Avinyan took the oath of office with his hand on the Erebuni-Yerevan foundation cuneiform record of 782 BC.
The mayor pledged to abide by Armenia’s Constitution, laws and the City Council decisions, to perform the mayor’s duties “honestly and faithfully”, to serve for the sake of Yerevan’s prosperity and act for the benefit of its residents.
The Yerevan City Council voted 32 to 5 to elect Avinyan mayor on October 10.
