Opposition MP outlines steps to prevent emigration of Artsakh Armenians
MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction has outlined measures to stop the emigration of people who had to flee to Armenia from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) in the wake of mid-September Azerbaijani attack and its seizure.
In a social media post on Friday, the deputy highlighted the need to provide them with permanent housing as a key priority.
“Priority should be given to the families of heroes who fell defending the homeland in the past 30 years, as well as families with many children and other vulnerable groups,” Abrahamyan wrote.
He said most of the annual financial resources allocated to Artsakh by Armenia’s government, as well as the funds announced by international organizations and countries can be used to cover the housing costs.
The MP called on the government to cut bonuses and capital expenditures envisaged by the state budget and use the funds to meet the Artsakh Armenians' housing needs.
