Expert: Turkey sees 'historic chance' to put Pan-Turkism into action
Turkey is actively discussing the issue of the “Zangezur corridor”, says Varuzhan Geghamyan, an academic and expert on Armenian-Azerbaijani relations.
In a social media post on Monday, he cited the leader of the right-wing Good Party, Meral Aksener, as saying, "A direct and unhindered communication will be established between Azerbaijan and Turkey, thus the opening of the Zangezur corridor would mark a historic step to unite the Turkic world."
"The "Zangezur corridor" is one of the key problems of the entire Middle East at this point and any solution to it will affect the entire region,” Geghamyan wrote on Telegram.
“And for Turkey, it is a historic chance to put into practice the idea to "unify the Turkic world" – Pan-Turkism. That's why Turkey’s entire political field is pushing for the opening of the corridor,” he added.
