Pashinyan: Armenia seeks to deepen relations with EU
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan has expressed his government’s readiness to deepen relations with the European Union.
"Today's event is significant for EU-Armenia relations and testifies to their high dynamics," Pashinyan told a joint press conference with President of the European Parliament Roberta Metsola in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
The prime minister highlighted EU-Armenia relations are based on shared values and democracy is a “strategic choice” for Armenia.
"We seek to deepen our relations with the EU and we don't want to in any way oppose this to the deepening and development of our regional relations. In this regard, I believe there are many points of support," Pashinyan said.
He reaffirmed the Armenian government’s commitment to the full implementation of the Armenia-EU Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement (CEPA).
"We expect the EU’s strong support to overcome a number of challenges. The matter also concerns the humanitarian problems in Armenia caused by the forced displacement of more than 100,000 Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh. Here we need urgent support," Pashinyan said.
