Baku court to continue kidnapped Artsakh man's sham trial on Wednesday
A court in Baku is set to resume on Wednesday the sham trial of Vagif Khachatryan, an Artsakh Armenian kidnapped by Azerbaijani forces in late July, Azerbaijani media reported.
The 68-year-old man was abducted and arrested by Azerbaijani border guards at the Lachin Corridor checkpoint on 29 July while being evacuated to Armenia by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) for an urgent heart surgery.
The Baku court began his trial on trumped-up charges of "genocide" and " deportation or forced exile of population” on October 13.
Khachatryan pleaded not guilty to all charges as he appeared before the court on Tuesday for the second time.
Armenia’s Foreign Ministry denounced his sham trial as a “show of complete disregard for any norms in Baku”.
