Ombudswoman: Azeri troops mutilated victims' bodies in Nagorno-Karabakh
Azerbaijani forces tortured and mutilated dozes of killed Armenian soldiers and civilians’ bodies during their attack on Nagorno-Karabakh in mid-September, Armenia’s Human Rights Defender Anahit Manasyan said on Thursday.
“Numerous bodies, including those of civilians, transferred from Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia bear signs of torture or mutilation,” she told reporters. “They also include bodies of women and children.”
The number of such cases could rise, the ombudswoman said, adding the international community had been informed about Azerbaijan’s war crimes. An English report has also been submitted to the International Court of Justice.
