Armenian expert warns of new spoofing scam
Information security expert Samvel Martirosyan has warned that scammers are tricking victims by spoofing legitimate bank numbers.
"For example, if you have a bank number registered in your phone, you will see that the call is really from the bank. The fake bank employee tells you that you have security problems and asks you to share a code sent to your phone number to protect you with them. Naturally, people get scared, share the code, and now their money is gone,” he wrote on Facebook on Monday.
"You should never provide a code to anyone. If you receive such a call from the "bank", end the call, call back the bank and ask for clarifications," Martirosyan added.
