Shushan Petrosyan: Current criminal leaders don't need knowledgeable, dignified Armenians
Famous singer Shushan Petrosyan, an honored artist of Armenia, joined a rally in support of opposition politician Armen Ashotyan outside the Anti-Corruption Court in Yerevan on Monday.
Ashotyan, deputy chair of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), has been placed in pre-trial detention since 16 June on charges of abuse of power and money laundering strongly denied by him as politically motivated.
“We lack political figures with high professional values like Armen Ashotyan today," Petrosyan told reporters.
The singer stressed "the current criminal authorities do not need professionals, knowledgeable and dignified Armenians who are ready to fight for the homeland."
"Naturally, Armen Ashotyan should have been on this list. They are so pathetic because of their decisions. The people who started their political career by denouncing freedom of speech, the right to free speech, today consider free speech as a weapon against them because they cannot give a commensurate response to it and it will all end after they leave," she noted.
