Armenian MP: Azerbaijan threatens tough measures over any activation of Artsakh issue
Azerbaijan has warned through unofficial channels that any activation of the Artsakh issue, including the return of Artsakh Armenians to their homes, will lead to an appropriate action from Azerbaijan against Armenia’s Syunik Province, says MP Tigran Abrahamyan of the opposition Pativ Unem faction.
“Azerbaijan links the Artsakh issue to the settling of Azerbaijanis in Syunik, threatening that otherwise it will resort to tough measures,” the deputy wrote on Facebook on Monday.
He recalls that Azerbaijan has been pushing for the “return” of Azeris to Syunik since last year, when the Armenian authorities expressed readiness to recognize Artsakh as part of Azerbaijan.
“Meanwhile, Azerbaijan put forward new conditions in talks with Armenia, which smoothly entered into international discussions amid criminal negligence of the Armenian authorities," the MP said.
“The Azerbaijani and Armenian authorities have jointly laid mines on all ways of activating the Artsakh issue, which is coupled with blackmail and threats,” Abrahamyan stated.
