Minister: Armenia saw 9.7% economic growth this year
Economic activity in Armenia increased by 9.7% in January-September this year, Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan said on Monday.
“We continue to ensure high economic activity rates. Armenia posted an economic growth of 9.7% in January-September 2023 compared to the same months of the past year,” he told parliamentary hearings on the 2024 daft state budget, highlighting an increase in services.
Salaries grew by 17.4% in nine months, with an increase of 9.4% and 19% recorded in the public and private sectors, respectively.
Announcing that the number of unemployed people decreased by 16%, the finance minister said the unemployment rate dropped to a historic low of 11.7% in the second quarter.
