Former Artsakh army commander held in Baku is alive, lawyer says
Artsakh’s military and political leaders are essentially facing persecution in Azerbaijan, lawyer Siranush Sahakyan, a legal representative of the Armenian prisoners of war at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), told Panorama.am on Tuesday.
The lawyer keeps in touch with the families of the detained former Artsakh officials.
Sahakyan denies media reports that Levon Mnatskayan, a former Artsakh army commander, has been killed in Baku prison.
“We have information that he is alive. The International Committee of the Red Cross announced that its employees visited absolutely all Artsakh officials, including the military leaders. Thus, we cannot make any other conclusion,” she said.
“The visit was announced on October 20. We assume that on October 20, the Red Cross representatives also met with Levon Mnatsakanyan,” the lawyer added.
