Opposition MP slams Artsakh teen’s arrest
Opposition MPs Tigran Abrahamyan and Kristine Vardanyan have visited 16-year-old Artsakh activist Samvel Mirzoyan who was arrested for taking part in mass unrests in Yerevan on 19 September and taken to the Abovyan Penitentiary.
He was among protesters who gathered outside the Armenian government building after Azerbaijan’s large-scale military offensive against Artsakh, calling for Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to resign, and clashed with police.
Samvel’s father was an army lieutenant colonel who fell defending Artsakh, Abrahamyan, secretary of the opposition Pativ Unem faction, said in a Facebook post on Wednesday.
“He was deprived of freedom because he refuses to put up with the loss of Artsakh, his native land, and does not forgive the ruling team and personally Nikol for surrendering Artsakh and betraying the Artsakh Armenians,” the MP wrote.
