Pashinyan: Many Artsakh refugees apply for Armenian citizenship
A large number of forcibly displaced people from Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) have applied for Armenian citizenship, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said on Thursday.
"Our task is to organize this process in the shortest possible time," Pashinyan told a cabinet meeting, adding there are some legislative nuances that need to be observed.
"Here all of us, the government and state agencies, must work as quickly as possible. But we also expect our displaced brothers and sisters to exercise patience so that all procedures be carried out correctly and no legal problems arise because of haste,” the premier said, thanking the Artsakh people for their understanding.
"In the future, when they are granted citizenship, we'll have to decide on what system of pension payments to introduce and what principles to put in place," Pashinyan added.
