Hakob Ghazanchyan: Stepanakert Drama Theater brand should be preserved
Stepanakert State Drama Theater after Vahram Papazyan is currently on a tour to the United States at the initiative of Karine Kocharyan, its New York-based actress and director.
The Artsakh theater has received a warm welcome for its performance "Three Apples Fell from the Sky" in New York, New Jersey, Philadelphia, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles.
The play’s director is Karine Kocharyan.
Speaking to Panorama.am on Thursday, Hakob Ghazanchyan, chairman of the Theater Workers' Union of Armenia, said that the tour was a great success and the theater troupe would return to Armenia on November 7.
According to him, they are waiting for their return in order to hold a board meeting of the union and together solve the employment issue of the Artsakh actors.
"When they get back, we will hold a board meeting. The board members are the heads of Armenian theaters. Everyone is ready to support the actors, the ministry has also expressed readiness to assist them. Yesterday, we again discussed this issue with Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Daniel Danielyan, they are also working on it. We will do our best," Ghazanchyan noted.
He says that there are several options that the union leadership should discuss and understand which one is more realistic and optimal at the moment.
"The brand of Stepanakert State Drama Theater after Vahram Papazyan should be preserved," Ghazanchyan insisted.
