FIDE Grand Swiss: Armenia's Shant Sargsyan beats Azeri rival
The 8th round of the FIDE Grand Swiss tournament has been completed.
Today, Armenian GM Shant Sargsyan defeated with black pieces GM Nijat Abasov of Azerbaijan, the Armenian Chess Federation reported.
The games of Manuel Petrosyan, Gabriel Sargissian, Hrant Melkumyan and Haik Martirosyan ended in a draw.
After 8 rounds, Samvel Ter-Sahakyan, Shant Sargsyan and Manuel Petrosyan have 4.5 points, Hrant Melkumyan and Gabriel Sargissian have 4 points, Haik Martirosyan has 3.5 points.
In the women's tournament, Elina Danielian and Mariam Mkrtchyan have 3 points.
