Mirzoyan: The year has not been going the way we wanted it to
"The current year has been going the way we wanted it to, and it primarily concerns the recent ethnic cleansing in Nagorno-Karabakh, a process as a result of which the Nagorno-Karabakh people had no other option but to flee their homes, their homeland to be saved," Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan told a briefing in the National Assembly on Friday.
Noting that currently there are more than 100,000 refugees from Artsakh in Armenia, Mirzoyan said that his ministry was also tasked with meeting their needs in the long run.
He emphasized that efforts towards the launch of international mechanisms for that purpose was underway.
"I can say with certainty that there is no government in the world that could accept more than 100,000 refugees in 3-4 days without any problems and shocks, including in the domestic politics, as well as the economic and social life," Mirzoyan claimed.
