Pashinyan critic charged with 'public calls for violence' regrets nothing
Human rights activist Avetik Ishkhanyan, a vocal critic of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan and his government, said on Saturday that he stood by his political statements after being charged with “public calls for violence”.
“The charges are based on a September 19 social media post. I don’t repent for what I have said. Moreover, I believe it was put even mildly. It is necessary to speak and act much more decisively against traitors,” he wrote on Facebook.
In his post, Ishkhanyan called Pashinyan a “traitor” and accused him of a plot to surrender Artsakh to Azerbaijan shortly after its invasion by Baku on September 19.
“Death to all traitors!” he wrote.
Many public figures, lawyers and activists expressed support for the human rights activist.
