Opposition politician accuses Pashinyan of 'subordinating' Armenia to Turkey
Opposition politician Eduard Sharmazanov, a senior member of the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), has accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan of “completely subordinating” Armenia to Turkey.
In a social media post on Friday, he warned that Pashinyan’s rule “poses existential threats” to the Armenian statehood.
Sharmazanov called out Pashinyan’s reelection in 2021 after the “capitulation” to Azerbaijan in the wake of the 44-day Artsakh war, saying it surprised Armenia’s “allies, partners and even enemies”.
“Azerbaijan is strengthening relations with the West, Iran and Russia, taking advantage of Pashinyan's weakness,” he wrote on Facebook.
“The West considers Aliyev a "reliable partner," and Russia and Iran are developing a long-term strategy with it.
“Where is Armenia? There is no Armenia, because Nikol has fully subordinated the country to Turkey. The world makes agreements with the Turks instead of us. Nikolism is an epidemic, which can be as deadly for the statehood as the use of sewage water is for a human being," Sharmazanov stated.
