Azerbaijan removed crosses from Stepanakert church domes
The Artsakh State Council for Protection of Cultural Heritage says that Azerbaijan has removed crosses from the domes of the Holy Mother of God Cathedral in Stepanakert, the capital of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh).
“A video posted by the Azerbaijani media has raised reasonable suspicion that the crosses have been removed from the domes of the cathedral in Stepanakert,” it said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
The Holy Mother of God Cathedral, also known as Surb Astvatsamor Hovanu Cathedral, is a church of the Armenian Apostolic Church located in the city of Stepanakert. The church - under construction for 12 years - was consecrated on April 7, 2019.
