Armenia has sufficient funds for Crossroads of Peace project, minister says
Armenia has sufficient reserve funds for infrastructure development envisaged by the Crossroads of Peace project, Minister of Finance Vahe Hovhannisyan said on Wednesday.
Speaking at parliamentary debates on the 2024 draft state budget, he stressed that the project should be implemented through joint efforts by Armenia and the other regional countries.
“The 2024 budget envisages significant funds for infrastructure development. The budget reflects the projects, the specific work that we plan to carry out in 2024," Hovhannisyan said.
"As you know, the Crossroads of Peace project should become reality not only as a result of our actions, but also with participation of the regional countries. When such an agreement is reached and this idea advances, we have reserve funds, undistributed funds for capital expenditures. We will have sufficient means to provide for infrastructures envisaged by the project,” he added.
The Crossroads of Peace project aims to enhance communication between Armenia, Turkey, Azerbaijan and Iran through infrastructure development, including roads, railways, pipelines, cables and electricity lines.
