Authorities probing YSU building fire
Investigators are probing the deadly fire that broke out at a Yerevan State University (YSU) building on Friday morning.
One person was killed and three others were injured after an explosion and a fire in the basement of the YSU Chemistry Faculty.
In a statement, the Investigative Committee said the killed man was 73 years old. He succumbed to burn injuries in the wake of the accident.
The injured persons include a police officer, who is hospitalized for smoke inhalation, and YSU maintenance workers aged 70 and 66. The latter are undergoing treatment for burns in Yerevan's National Burns Center.
A criminal case has been launched into a violation of fire safety rules which negligently caused death or other serious consequences under Article 355 of the country's Criminal Code.
