Armenia not mulling withdrawal from CSTO, says deputy parliament speaker
Armenia has repeatedly announced its readiness for negotiations with Azerbaijan, deputy parliament speaker Hakob Arshakyan said on Tuesday.
“Moreover, various drafts of the peace treaty are being exchanged,” he told reporters,
Arshakyan, who represents the ruling Civil Contract party, stresses that Yerevan has never avoided talks with Baku in platforms which it deems effective.
Asked whether Armenia is considering withdrawal from the Moscow-led Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the MP noted that no such issue has been discussed.
Also, he said Armenia rejected the CSTO assistance package because of the security bloc’s failure to recognize Armenia’s borders.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced last week that he would not be taking part in a CSTO summit scheduled to be held in Minsk on 23 November.
