MP says still chance to get Armenian-Russian relations 'back on track'
Opposition MP Tigran Abrahamyan believes there is still a chance to bring relations between Armenia and Russia back to normal, adding, however, it requires a change of government in Armenia.
"The main problem is not that the Armenian authorities have disagreements on various issues with Russia which is normal. The problem is that the Armenian leadership is constantly escalating them into conflicts in an attempt to bring them to a point in which it would be impossible to restore the previous ties,” he wrote on Facebook on Friday.
“I personally also have various questions regarding the actions or inaction of the Russian Federation in this or that situation, but before making any statement or decision, we should bear in mind that Russia remains the major player in the [South Caucasus] region and ruining relations with it could lead to unpredictable consequences.
“There is still a chance to put Armenian-Russian relations back on track, but it cannot happen under the current government, as it lacks desire or will for it,” the MP stated.
