South Ossetian leader shrugs off Pashinyan's latest remarks
South Ossetian President Alan Gagloyev has dismissed Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's statement on Georgia's territorial integrity.
Asked whether Armenia is ready to recognize Abkhazia and Ossetia as occupied territories, Pashinyan said at an online news conference that Armenia “fully and unequivocally” supports the territorial integrity of Georgia.
"We respect the Armenian people, with whom we have centuries-old friendly relations, but we are not interested in the opinion of the Armenian prime minister, who left Nagorno-Karabakh alone to face a dire situation,” TASS quoted Gagloyev as saying on Saturday.
“He betrayed his own people, mostly ethnic Armenians, who were waiting for help from Armenia. Pashinyan lacked the courage to recognize Artsakh's independence. We don’t care about the opinion of such politicians,” he added.
Gagloyev stressed that "today South Ossetia is an independent state recognized by the Russian Federation and a number of other countries and everyone has to reckon with it".
