Informal CIS summit to be held on Dec. 26
An informal meeting of the CIS presidents will take place on 26 December, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told the media on Thursday 30 November, BelTA has learned.
“St. Petersburg is set to host two important events on 25-26 December. These are the EAEU Supreme Council at the level of the presidents on 25 December, and an informal meeting of CIS presidents on 26 December,” Lebedev said.
“Russian President Vladimir Putin has invited his counterparts to St. Petersburg on 26 December to communicate in an informal setting, discuss topical issues, and exchange views,” the secretary general emphasized.
Earlier on Wednesday, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed hope that Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan would attend the CIS meeting.
“If Mr. Pashinyan travels there – and he is expected there like everyone else – then there will be a great opportunity to talk,” Peskov told reporters.
