Yerevan Municipality seeks to increase bus fare, councilor warns
The Yerevan Municipality plans to raise the bus fare from 100 drams to 150 drams in the near future, David Khazhakyan, deputy chairman of the Bright Armenia party and a member of the Yerevan City Council, said on Tuesday.
"Well, naturally, they will argue that the bus fare should rise after the widespread price increases, but I have deep reservations about this, because I have always believed that the current fares can remain unchanged through a full-fledged reform,” he said in a Facebook live.
"But even if the fare increases, people should not wait long at bus stops, the transport route should not be as long as it is now, vehicles should not be overcrowded as they are now. Minibuses in the capital have been completely replaced by buses, but the problem has remained unresolved," Khazhakyan added.
