Opening of Armenia-Turkey border 'crucial', claims deputy FM
Armenia seeks to further develop friendly relations with Iran, Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan said at a conference on Tuesday.
Safaryan highlighted intense efforts towards boosting economic ties between the two countries, including on multilateral platforms.
“Iran is Armenia’s fourth largest economic partner, its main southern transit route which ensures strategic access to Asia and the Middle East,” the deputy minister underscored.
Safaryan said that the governments of Georgia and Armenia seek long-term strategic dialogue.
Also, he stated that the opening of the Armenia-Turkey border “is profoundly important”.
"As you know, we have agreed to open the border for citizens of third countries and diplomatic passport holders. We hope that this tangible step will be taken in the near future," Safaryan added.
