Concert in Yerevan to mark duduk master Jivan Gasparyan's anniversary
A jubilee concert marking legendary duduk player Jivan Gasparyan’s 95th birthday anniversary will be held in Yerevan.
The concert is scheduled to take place at Aram Khachaturian Concert Hall in central Yerevan on 9 December.
The program includes Armenian folk music, warm melodies of Armenian duduk, ethno-jazz compositions and epic soundtracks, organizers said.
Jivan Gasparyan Jr. (duduk player), Arto Tunchboyajian (singer, drummer), Artyom Manukyan (cellist) and Garegin Arakelyan (keyboard instruments, Gata band) will perform multi-genre musical works in tribute to Jivan Gasparyan, dubbed “Master of the Duduk”.
The evening will also feature the Tatul Altunyan State Song and Dance Ensemble, where Jivan Gasparyan began his career as a duduk player. Archival footage of Gasparyan's performances will also be shown at the event.
The legendary musician passed away in the U.S. in 2021 at the age of 92.
