Armenia parliament speaker says Azerbaijan itself dragging out peace process
Armenia has never rejected peace talks with Azerbaijan, National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan said on Thursday, arguing that Baku itself was dragging out the peace process.
He recalled that Baku snubbed three scheduled meetings with Yerevan in October and November.
Speaking to reporters, he said apart from statements on peace and recognition of Armenia’s territorial integrity, Azerbaijan should take tangible stapes towards real peace.
Simonyan reiterated that some Armenians may decide to live in Azerbaijan in the future.
“Yes, time will pass and I don't rule out that Armenians will go to live in Azerbaijan, some Azerbaijanis will resettle in Armenia, they'll trade with each other. There is no other way for peace. The claims that we have fought each other and it’s an insurmountable problem are unacceptable to me. We live in the same region and should try to solve all the problems," the speaker insisted.
