Opposition leader says Pashinyan confirmed lack of plans for Artsakh's future
Seyran Ohanyan, the parliamentary leader of the opposition Hayastan bloc, has accused Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan’s Civil Contract party of repeatedly “telling lies” to the people.
Ohanyan, a former defense minister, said Pashinyan avoided answering his question about the Armenian government’s plans for the future of Artsakh at the question-and-answer session in the National Assembly on Wednesday.
“What is Armenia’s strategy regarding the future of Artsakh as part of your “There is a future!” election campaign program?” Ohanyan asked. In response, Pashinyan said that, as the prime minister of Armenia, “my objective is the future of Armenia.”
“The head of state, as always, avoided using the words “Artsakh”, the “Artsakh Republic”, or “Artsakh’s self-determination”, simply being afraid of publicly acknowledging Artsakh’s self-determination under Soviet laws,” Ohanyan wrote on Facebook on Thursday.
"He effectively confirmed that the current Armenian authorities lack any strategy regarding the future of the Artsakh Republic,” the MP said.
He highlighted that Artsakh was depopulated and Azeri troops invaded sovereign Armenian territory during Pashinyan’s rule.
Also, Ohanyan insisted that the Artsakh issue remained unresolved and called for a government strategy to deal with it.
