Opposition MP: I don't believe peace will come
Opposition MP Taguhi Tovmasyan has cast doubt on the Armenian leadership’s assurances that a treaty with Azerbaijan will help establish peace between the two countries.
“The more the Armenian authorities speak about peace, the more the enemy resorts to aggression,” she told a news briefing in the parliament on Wednesday.
Tovmasyan, who represents the opposition Pativ Unem faction, warned of frequent sounds of gunfire heard in her native town of Vardenis bordering Azerbaijan.
“I often call them “shots of peace” which the majority of border residents are hearing at night,” the MP stated.
“I simply don’t believe peace will come. I don’t believe that any agreement will be honored after its signing,” Tovmasyan added.
